Wisteria Cottage in Sigournais
Our two bedroomed holiday cottage is a converted 17th century barn lovingly restored to retain its character and history. Originally built before the Vendée wars but burned by troops during the revolution in the 18th century; evidence of this can be seen on the stones of the walls where the colour has turned from creamy yellow to a rose hue.
Wisteria Cottage is spacious with lots of natural light and is furnished to the highest standard. It can accommodate 6 guests in summer and 4 guests in winter. This is a perfect base for exploring the Vendée and its history - or simply to relax and enjoy rural France and its Atlantic coastline.

It is located near the village of Sigournais and its medieval château. The nearest large shopping centre is 10 minutes away in Chantonnay, although there is a small supermarket in Sigournais where you can buy virtually everything that you might need and this is only 5 minutes away. The Vendee is renowned for its excellent micro climate - as much sunshine as the Cote d'Azur - which usually means 5 to 10 degrees hotter than the UK.

The ground floor is open plan - with a cosy living room area, complete with woodburner for the cooler winter months. There is a breakfast bar and corner kitchen area. The kitchen is well-equipped.
The double bedroom is located on the ground floor and there is a sofabed in the living room. Two single beds are located on the mezzanine level (a third can be added if required - please let us know when booking) Please note, this bedroom is located in the eaves of the roof, so has limited head height in places. Both bedrooms have lots of storage space.
There is a large shower room with a shower cubicle, hand basin, heated towel rail and WC, plus there is a separate WC.
Parking is 25 yards from Wisteria Cottage – we will supply a parking map when you book.
Please note that this cottage is not suitable for people with limited mobility.

- Wisteria Cottage - Open all year, Saturday Start dates in the summer months. Minimum of 5 night stays from October until May and can book blocks of 7 nights June to September.
- Number of guests: up to 6 in summer(June until end of September), up to 4 in winter (October until end of May).
- The rental price includes: bed linen, towels, tea-towels, oven gloves, heating, water, electricity, internet connection and some cleaning supplies (septic tank friendly products).
- A 30% deposit is required to secure your booking.
- The remaining 70%, plus a £120 Damage Deposit is required 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.
- We can accept payment in Sterling or Euros, by bank transfer, cheque or Credit Card.
- If you are booking less than 8 weeks before the holiday, then full payment will be needed to secure your reservation.
- We can offer a discount on Ferry Crossings with Brittany Ferries.
- The property will be clean and tidy for your arrival, and it is expected to be left in the same condition, otherwise we reserve the right to take a portion or all of the damage deposit as payment for extra cleaning.
- Rentals start from 4pm on the first day, and end at 10am on the last day.
- This property is not suitable for large groups or parties.
- Please note that dogs are not accepted in this property.
